How to Resolve a Blacklisted FASTag

A FASTag account is used to pay tolls in India. It is crucial because the Indian government has made electronic toll payments through FASTag mandatory. Since it is the only way to pay tolls, you must ensure your FASTag account remains active.

If you get the notification that your FASTag account has been suspended, there is no need to panic. You can always resolve your blacklisted FASTag by following a set process. In this article, you will learn how to do it easily.

What is a blacklisted FASTag

A blacklisted FASTag means that the agency that issued your FASTag, such as an NBFC, has suspended or blacklisted your account for some reason. If this happens, you will not be able to use your FASTag account to pay tolls.

Reasons for a blacklisted FASTag

Here are some reasons for a blacklisted FASTag:

  • Insufficient balance: If you do not maintain sufficient balance or fail to recharge your account on time, it may get blacklisted. Additionally, your FASTag account may also be blacklisted if the required minimum balance is not maintained.
  • Legal violations: If your vehicle is involved in any legal violations, law enforcement may blacklist it. For example, if you use your personal car’s FASTag on a business vehicle, your FASTag account may get blacklisted.
  • Penalties: If you have ever incurred a penalty for a toll violation in the past and have not paid it, your account may get blacklisted. Therefore, it is advisable to pay the penalty as soon as possible.
  • Suspicious activities: If your FASTag account contains any suspicious activity, the issuing agency can blacklist it. For example, if you try to use the same FASTag on two different vehicles.

What if your FASTag is blacklisted even with sufficient balance

If your FASTag account shows sufficient balance but is still blacklisted, there might be a serious reason for it. This could be due to an action taken by a law enforcement agency. In such a case, you should contact your FASTag issuing agency to understand the cause and resolve the issue.

Steps to resolve a blacklisted FASTag

Here are the steps to resolve blacklisted FASTag:

Recharge your FASTag

The most common reason for a blacklisted FASTag is insufficient balance. Check the minimum balance required and verify whether you maintained the balance or not. If not, then recharge your FASTag using online marketplaces or platforms to ensure that the minimum balance criteria is met.

Contact customer care

If your FASTag is blacklisted despite having the minimum balance, contact the customer care of your issuing agency. They will help you identify the exact cause of the blacklisting and guide you through the process to resolve it. Follow the instructions to reactivate your FASTag.

Revise KYC information

KYC information is crucial for a FASTag account. Check if your KYC information is up to date or outdated. If outdated, revise your KYC information by providing the necessary documents to your FASTag’s issuing agency. Once you update your KYC information, the issuing agency will reactivate your FASTag.

Check vehicle information

If your FASTag has an incorrect vehicle registration number, it may get suspended. In such a case, verify whether the vehicle registration number on your FASTag is correct or not. If incorrect, update the correct vehicle registration number to reactivate your FASTag.

How to prevent FASTag blacklisting in the future

Follow these steps to avoid FASTag blacklisting in the future:

  • Maintain sufficient balance: Be aware of the required minimum balance and ensure it is always maintained. Recharge as soon as the amount falls below the required minimum account.
  • KYC updates: Review your FASTag account regularly. Ensure that your KYC information is up to date. If not, provide regular KYC updates to your issuing agency.
  • Track transactions: Track all the transactions to avoid suspicious activities and check other information, such as the vehicle registration number.

Conclusion

If your FASTag is blacklisted, it may create a problem while crossing tolls. Hence, it is crucial to resolve your blacklisted FASTag for a hassle-free journey. Furthermore, always monitor your FASTag account to protect it from getting blacklisted in the first place.
